THIRUVANKULAM RESIDENCE
Project Location- Thiruvankulam, Kochi
Area of Building - 2200 sq.ft
Plot Size - 5 cent
The project is envisioned as a retirement residence for ten priests, conceived as a quiet and contemplative living environment that supports collective and reflective daily life. The overall residential programme includes shared functions such as the kitchen, dining, and chapel, which are accommodated within a separate, already functioning residential block on site.
Natural light to become the primary design medium. Rather than relying on overt symbolism, the movement and modulation of daylight are used to create a subtle spiritual presence, shaping calm, introspective interiors that support prayer, reflection, and everyday living.
The architectural language of the proposed residence is intentionally simple and restrained, defined by clear forms and minimal elements. The design prioritizes spaces that naturally encourage informal gatherings and everyday interactions, allowing community life to evolve organically. Through shared courts, transitional spaces, and visual connections, the architecture supports a collective way of living—strengthening social bonds while respecting individual solitude.
